Techniques

The techniques in Commando Krav Maga cover all aspects of real hand-to-hand combat and weapons training. Because streetfights are so unpredictable, all the techniques are developed so that they rely on instinct and are not complicated. The techniques may also be customized for students of any size or strength. Just because certain moves work for people who are 6-foot-2 doesn't mean they work for someone who is 5-foot-9. Instead, the moves may be slightly modified to maximize effectiveness. That is why the practice component during training is so important.

Students work with both men and women, shorter or taller, weaker or stronger. You never know who your attacker is, so techniques must be employed on all types of people.

Techniques include empty-hand combat, gun disarming, edged-weapon defense, takedown and control techniques, improvised weapons, impact weapons, defense against vicious chokes or strikes, ground survival and defense against multiple attackers. Aside from the physical elements, students are also exposed to pre- and post-conflict techniques, which focus on the mental aspects of confrontations.

Additional tools are also offered to enhance training techniques. Professionally produced DVDs, endorsed by known experts, are available and offer high-quality instruction and knowledge. These DVDs include the "Commando Krav Maga Training Series," "The Best of the Israeli Fighting Systems," "Ground Survival" and "Gun Confrontations."

Moni is on his knees and plays submissive to the assailant, keeping his hands up and in grabbing range of the gun (1). Before the attacker reacts, Moni quickly grabs the gun (2), while chopping the assailant's gun hand in a semi-circular motion (3). The chop is actually directed toward your body, forcing the assailant to let go of the gun (4). With the gun pointing in the direction of the attacker (5), Moni executes a reversal and rolls back, keeping the gun pointed at the attacker (6).
